Italian businesses invited to Vietnam’s largest food expo

Rome (VNA) – TheVietnam Foodexpo 2017, the biggest show of Vietnam’s food industry wasintroduced to business in Italy’s Lazio region on June 8.

The event was held by the VietnameseEmbassy in Italy and Lazio region’s trade promotion agency Lazio Innova, atLazio Innova’s headquarters in Rome.

Speaking at the workshop, BuiVuong Anh, Trade Counsellor at the Vietnam Embassy in Italy, said the fair,which is scheduled to run in Ho Chi Minh City from November 15 to 18, is anational-scale trade promotion activity specializing in agri-fishery and foodprocessing.

On the occasion, Ilaria Turatti, head of TurattiPacific Co., Ltd – a food processing company operating in Vietnam, shared herexperience in investing in the Southeast Asian country.

Participating businesses said they areinterested in the Vietnamese market, which they considered a gateway to theAsia – Pacific region.

Italy, as the Country of Honor in the Vietnam Foodexpo2016, brought to the fair local specialties and food processing machinery,showcased in 40 stalls.

In an interview with the Vietnam News Agency,Trade Counsellor Bui Vuong Anh said Vietnamese firms and their Italian peersfrom Lazio have been working together in developing distribution channels andproducts for wholesale markets.

An agreement on establishing twining relationsbetween Hanoi and Lazio is expected to be signed this year, he added.-VNA
