Japan continues to be largest market of Vietnamese workers

Japan remained the largest market for Vietnamese guest workers in the first nine months of 2019, according to the Department of Overseas Labour under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).

– Japan remained thelargest market for Vietnamese guest workers in the first nine months of 2019,according to the Department of Overseas Labour under the Ministry of Labour,Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).

In January-September, the total number ofVietnamese employees working abroad was 104,615, including 35,815 femaleworkers, reaching 87.2 percent of the yearly target.

Japan received the largest number of Vietnameseworkers with 53,610, including 20,250 females, followed by China’s Taiwan41,174, the Republic of Korea 5,898, Romania 1,103, Saudi Arabia 817, Macau324, and Malaysia 304.

Deputy head of the Department of Overseas LabourNguyen Gia Liem said Taiwan and Japan are traditional labour export markets ofVietnam.

Japan is the most potential at present thanks togood wages and numerous opportunities for skilled workers, he added.

In 2018, close to 70,000 Vietnamese workers wentto work in Japan. Currently, nearly 200,000 are working in the East Asiancountry.

Japan has demands for over 345,000 foreignworkers in various fields such as caregiving for the elderly, hotel reception,electricity, car repair and maintenance, aviation logistics, restaurant,construction, shipbuilding and agriculture./.
