The method will be included in the joint statement of leaders from ASEAN member states, Japan and Australia at the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) on October 11.
Japan will propose emissions calculation rules based on its Law Concerning the Promotion of the Measures to Cope with Global Warming, which requires businesses with total crude oil equivalent of at least 1,500 kilolitres to calculate their emissions as well as report and disclose information to the government.
On the basis of the agreement in the joint statement꧙, Japan will establish a support system through the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia, helping ASEAN member states to carry out the rules.
