Japanese firms on lookout for Vietnamese suppliers

Vietnamese suppliers of home appliances and agricultural products have been the apple of Japanese businesses’ eyes thanks to their large export scale and steady growth in recent years.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese suppliers of home appliances andagricultural products have been the apple of Japanese businesses’ eyes thanksto their large export scale and steady growth in recent years.

Home Center Kohnan of Japanese firm Kohnan, which has 300 household applianceshops in the East Asian country, is hunting for Vietnamese suppliers. It wantsto do business with prestigious producers of home interior, items of smarthouses and digital equipment systems.

A representative from the company, Hatakeyama Motonobu, said “We are lookingfor suppliers who can provide us high-quality products besides meetingrequirements of sustainable production”.

The products will be sold in its stores in both Vietnam and Japan, he added.

Home Center Kohnan, established in 1978, is now a leading supplier of householdappliances in Japan. It entered the Vietnamese market in 2016. Meanwhile,Vietnamese wood and plastic production sector is valued at billions of USD,with wooden exports to Japan in the first 10 months of the year reaching 1.13 billionUSD, up 100 million USD against the same time last year.

Regarding the agricultural sector, the owner of Japanese Nosui Corporation hastravelled to Vietnam 30 times to seek suppliers of safe agricultural products.

The company has partnered with Hien Le Trading and Service Co., Ltd in Hanoifor a year, supporting the Vietnamese firm with advanced farming techniques.

“We do not have to worry much about finding consumption markets as we haveclean products which satisfy the stringent criteria of the importers. Afterthree years pouring capital into clean agriculture, our work has borne fruit,with several contracts inked to export tropical farm produce to choosy marketslike Japan and the UK,” Nguyen Thi Bao Hien, director of Hien Le said.

The firm is rushing to harvest 20 hectares of soybeans for processing before exportto Japan, with its main importer being Nosui Corporation.-VNA
