Japanese naval vessels anchor in Vietnam

Two vessels of the Japan Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) arrived at Tien Sa Port in Da Nang city on April 16, beginning a visit to share experience and enhance cooperation with Vietnam’s navy.

The 500-strong delegation, including 60 officers and trainees, serveon the ships Kirisame and Asayuki, and are led by Colonel SugimotoMasaharu, Commander of the JMSDF’s frigate fleet No. 12.

From now to April 19, the Japanese side is scheduled to meet officialsfrom the Da Nang People’s Committee, the High Command of the MilitaryZone 5, and the High Command of the Naval Region 3.

They will also exchange experience in communication training andparticipate in sports activities with officers and soldiers of the NavalRegion 3.-VNA
