Kagoshima prefecture’s firms wish to invest in Vietnam

Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the Chamber ofCommerce and Industry of Japan’s Kagoshima prefecture Yoshitaro Iwasaki hasexpressed wish to connect the two countries’ businesses across aquaculture, farmproduce and aquatic processing and personnel training.  

During a recent meeting in Hanoi with Chairman of theVietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Vu Tien Loc, Iwasaki saidKagoshima is strong in agriculture, fisheries and food processing.

Japanese localities have devised their own strategies toseek business opportunities abroad and call for foreign investment in Japan, hesaid, adding that he hopes the two nations’ firms will understand more abouteach other to form specific linkages on the back of the VCCI’s support.

He said the Kagoshima Chamber of Commerce and Industry will workclosely with VCCI to arrange exchange of business visits, thus helping theircompanies to learn about the other market, and hold business dialogues andforums.

Loc agreed with the guest’s proposal to enhance exchange andconnectivity between Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises.

He pledged to provide support for Kagoshima firms to fullytap existing business opportunities.

Considered a gateway to Southeast Asia due to its locationin southern Japan, Kagoshima prefecture advocates cooperation with SoutheastAsian countries, including Vietnam. It is home to nearly 1.6 million peoplewith annual income per capita of roughly 2.5 million JPY (over 22,300 USD).

Its economy mostly relies on light and processing industry,animal husbandry and cultivation.-VNA
