The People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa province has just approved a plan to build the Alexandre Yersin museum in the coastal area of Tran Phu Street, Nha Trang City. Covering about 10,000 square meters, the museum will be constructed between 2025 and 2027.
Alexandre Yersin (1863-1943) was a Swiss-born French physician, bacteriologist, and adventurer with a deep affection for Vietnam, particularly Khanh Hoa province, which he regarded as his second homeland.
At the age of 28, Yersin first arrived in Nha Trang in 1891, driven by a passion for exploring tropical forests.
Known locally as Mr. Tu, Yersin was the first European to offer health services in the region.
The museum features a modern design, incorporating advanced technology and equipment to ensure energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and cost-effectiveness in both operation and maintenance.
Once completed, the museum will become a multi-functional socio-cultural facility in the province, offering an engaging learning and experience destination for visitors./.
