Lai Chau looks to bolster cooperation with Austrian localities

Authorities of the northwestern mountainous province of Lai Chau received Ambassador of Austria to Vietnam Thomas Schuller Gotzburg on May 7, on his working tour of the province to discuss cooperation in tourism, vocational training and agriculture between the province and Austrian localities in the coming time.

Lai Chau (VNA) – Authorities of thenorthwestern mountainous province of Lai Chau received Ambassador of Austria toVietnam Thomas Schuller Gotzburg on May 7, on his working tour of the province todiscuss cooperation in tourism, vocational training and agriculture between theprovince and Austrian localities in the coming time.

Chairman of the provincial People’sCommittee Tran Tien Dung briefed his guest on the socio-economic development ofLai Chau over the years, as well as the province’s potential and advantages.

Lai Chau boasts huge potential for economicgrowth, including hydropower development, tea processing, and agriculture. Theprovince is keen to boost tourism in the years to come, Dung added.

The official voiced his hope that theAustrian diplomat will work to foster the investment cooperation between LaiChau and Austrian localities and businesses. He also expects that the Embassywill continue to support Lai Chau in promoting its strengths and tourisminfrastructure.

Local authorities will create optimalconditions for foreign businesses, and Austrian firms in particular, he pledged.

For his part, Ambassador Thomas SchullerGotzburg highlighted the sound cooperation between the two countries, addingthat Austria has implemented various projects in Vietnam, including in Lai Chauprovince.

The diplomat vowed to call on Austrianinvestors to explore Lai Chau’s potential and bolster cooperation between theprovince and Austrian localities in multiple fields.

On the occasion, the ambassador asked LaiChau province to set up a delegation to visit Austria and invite businesses ofthe European country to invest in the province.

While in Lai Chau, the Austrian diplomatwill inspect tourism development activities in Sin Sui Ho commune of theprovince’s Phong Tho district and Lao Chai cultural village in Tam Duongdistrict. -VNA
