Mexico City (VNA) – A delegation from the northern province of Lao Cai led by Dang Xuan Phong, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, is paying a working visit to Mexico from October 29-30.

The visit is an external activity via the Party channel, aiming to implement the policy of upgrading Vietnam - Mexico relations to a comprehensive partnership in the coming time, as well as towards the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025.

During the visit, Phong held talks with General Secretary of the Labour Party (PT) of Mexico Senator Alberto Anaya Gutierrez, and received Politburo member and member of the Chamber of Deputies Magnadela Nunez and PT officials. The delegation also visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico and surveyed sustainable tourism development models in several localities.

At the talks with Anaya, Phong congratulated the PT’s success in the recent general election as a political party in the ruling coalition. Phong emphasised that this victory not only affirms the growing position of the PT in the Mexican political life, but is also a common victory of the left-wing forces in the Latin American region.

He also acknowledged and appreciated the special sentiments and practical support that Anaya has given to President Ho Chi Minh, the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Vietnamese people.

On this occasion, Phong also introduced Lao Cai province’s advantages and potential in socio-economic development and called on Mexican parties to promote cooperation between Lao Cai and Mexican localities in the coming time.

For his part, the PT leader expressed his admiration for the struggle for national liberation of the Vietnamese people and President Ho Chi Minh, affirming that Vietnam's success today must be attributed to the key role of the CPV in effectively following President Ho Chi Minh's thought and vision in the cause of sovereignty protection and national development.

According to Anaya, the positive economic results after the Doi moi (Renewal) process initiated by the CPV in 1986 as well as the rapid and stable growth indicators in recent years have gradually transformed Vietnam from an agricultural country into an industrial power.

He stressed that as one of the key leaders of Juntos Haremos Historia (Together We Will Make History) alliance – the electoral coalition represented by President Claudia Sheinbaum – he will continue to work to bring Mexico and Vietnam closer together.

Regarding the relationship between the PT and the CPV, Anaya emphasised that the frequency of high-level delegation exchanges in recent times showed that the relations have become stronger and closer, contributing to promoting the traditional friendship between the two countries.

He said the two sides need to study new cooperation mechanisms to make the relationship more effective and practical.

While in Mexico, the delegation met with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and laid flowers at the Ho Chi Minh Monument in the Freedom of Ethnic Park in Mexico City./.
