Lao Cai’s 2018 budget collection hits over 8 trillion VND
Budget collection of the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai in 2018 is estimated at over 8 trillion VND (nearly 342.49 million USD), surpassing the assigned target by 41.7 percent and up 6.3 percent against the previous year, the provincial People’s Committee reported on December 11.

LaoCai (VNA) - Budget collection of the northern mountainous provinceof Lao Cai in 2018 is estimated at over 8 trillion VND (nearly 342.49 millionUSD), surpassing the assigned target by 41.7 percent and up 6.3 percent againstthe previous year, the provincial People’s Committee reported on December 11.
The province’s domestic collectionreached 5.6 trillion VND (nearly 239.60 million USD), equivalent to 100 percentof the estimate and representing a year-on-year increase of 8.3 percent.
Meanwhile, import-export activities contributed 2 trillionVND (over 85.5 million USD) to the local budget, up 7.2 percent year-on-year.
Export-importtaxes collected at the Lao Cai border gate as of December 10 hit 1.58 trillionVND, up 19.6 percent. The locality’s total export of agricultural products reached541.7 million USD, rising 259.3 percent.

Its GRDP expanded 10.23 percent in 2018, with agro-forestry-aquaculture recordinga growth of 5 percent; industry-construction, up 14.74 percent; and service, up7.52 percent.
The local economic structure has changed positively, withagro-forestry-aquaculture accounting for only 13.07 percent;industry-construction, 44.29 percent; and services, 42.64 percent. Per capitaincome reached 60 million VND per year, 7.8 million VND higher than that in2017.
The results were attributed to the province’s efforts to promote administrativereform, improve the quality of human resources, and fully tap advantages of transport,border economy, industry and tourism.

Total budget collection in the January-August period was estimated at 871.8 trillion VND (37.3 billion USD), or 66.1 percent of the yearly estimates, an increase of 13.8 percent year on year, according to the Finance Ministry.
Although completing the majority of its economic targets for 2018, Ho Chi Minh City is still burdened with heavy pressure from its budget collection, said Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee at a meeting on November 1.
The Finance Ministry reported on November 12 that total State budget collection was estimated at 1.12 quadrillion VND in the January-October period, equivalent to 84.9 percent of the yearly estimates, and up 15.1 percent from the same time of 2017.
The National Assembly has issued a resolution on State budget estimates for 2019, in which total State budget collection will likely reach over 1.411 quadrillion VND (60.67 billion USD), while the total spending will hit more than 1.633 quadrillion VND.
A key change in the draft decree is a provision requiring bank transfers for gold transactions valued at 20 million VND (765 USD) and above, to enhance transparency and verify customer identities.
