Lao newspaper extols Vietnam’s support for socio-economic development

The electronic edition of Pasaxon (People) Newspaper, the organ of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee, continued to publish articles praising the traditional, pure, faithful and close relations between the two Parties, States and people on the threshold of the state visit to Vietnam by General Secretary of the LPRP Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.

Vientiane (VNA) – The electronic edition of Pasaxon (People) Newspaper, the organ of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee, continued to publish articles praising the traditional, pure, faithful and close relations between the two Parties, States and people on the threshold of the state visit to Vietnam by General Secretary of the LPRP Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.

The newspaper held that Vietnam and Laos have always supported and assisted each other both during the past struggle for national liberation and the current period of national construction and development, and affirmed that Vietnam's help has contributed greatly to Laos's socio-economic development.

In a recent article, the newspaper quoted Lao Minister of Planning and Investment Phet Phomphiphak as saying that during 2021-2025 the Vietnamese Government agreed to provide 3.6 trillion VND (145.83 million USD) in financial aid for the Lao Government. The funds has helped to carry out educational cooperation and projects between the two sides, with the new parliament building, Laos - Vietnam friendship vocational school, and Academic of Politics of the Lao People’s Public Security being notable projects. The grant for this year is 719.23 billion VND, according to the Laos - Vietnam Cooperation Committee.

Another Pasaxon article stressed that leaders of the two Parties and States as well as the people of both nations are proud of the cooperation and special solidarity which have developed in a deeper manner in all areas.

Bilateral trade ties have been growing towards the target of 10-15% as set by the two governments, it said. Two-way trade rose 17% year-on-year to 1.1 billion USD in the first seven months of 2024, with Laos importing products worth 355.3 million USD from Vietnam./.
