Lao parliament hails governmental cooperation with Vietnam

– The cooperation between the Vietnamese and Lao governmentshave contributed to taking bilateral relations to new heights, said Lao National Assembly Chairwoman Pany Yathotou.

She made the remark at ameeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Hanoi on April 15.

The Lao leader wishedVietnamese leaders further success in the implementation the 12th NationalParty Congress’ Resolution.
She appreciated Vietnam’ssupport for Laos’ development, particularly in allowing her country to use thelocal Vung Ang port in the central region – the nearest gateway to the sea.

For his part, PrimeMinister Phuc stressed Vietnam’s commitments to boosting the traditional friendship,special solidarity, and comprehensive partnership with Laos.

Regarding theVietnamese-funded construction of the Lao National Assembly headquarters, whichis set to begin in this July, Phuc informed his guest that the work will becarried out by a reliable contractor from Vietnam.

He took the occasion torequest the State Bank of Vietnam to assign the Bank for Investment andDevelopment of Vietnam (BIDV) and other banks to cooperate with the Lao side inestablishing more credit sources serving joint investment projects between thetwo countries. -VNA
