Ben Tre (VNA)🔥 – The Ben Tre Import Export Joint Stock Company inaugurated and put into operation a factory manufacturing canned coconut milk in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre on November 19.
The factory, the largest of its kind in Vietnam, covers a total area of 7.5 hectares in the Phong Nam small-scale Industrial Complexes in Giong Trom district. It cost over 20 million USD.
The mill has an annual capacity of 37 million litres, consuming about 200 million coconuts in the province a year.
Up to 90 percents of its products are expected to be exported to North America, Europe, and several countries in North Africa and Asia.
Ben Tre is the country’s largest coconut cultivation locality, having 63,000 hectares generating 500 million coconuts each year.-VNA
The export of coconuts and coconut products in the southern province Ben Tre generated 136 million USD between January and September 2014, up by more than 45 percent compared to the same period last year.
