Leader extends Tet wishes to police, workers in Hanoi

Hanoi (VNA) – Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trongvisited police officers, staff of the National Load Dispatch Centre (NLDC) andenvironmental workers of Hanoi who were on duty on the last night of the Yearof the Dog on February 4.
He was accompanied by Minister of PublicSecurity To Lam, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai andother officials.
The Party and State leader hailed efforts by thetraffic-order police team of Ba Dinh district, which houses the headquarters ofmany central agencies and ministries, in ensuring political security and socialorder and safety.
He said their tasks become even heavier duringthe Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday when they have to ensure absolute security andsafety for people to enjoy a merry Tet.
He wished them as well as police officersnationwide health, happiness and tasks fulfilled in the Year of the Pig.
Visiting the NLDC of the Vietnam Electricitygroup (EVN), Party General Secretary and President Trong spoke highly of thesector’s active preparations to ensure power supply throughout Tet. He alsoapplauded their efforts to develop the electricity sector into one of thespearhead industries critical to national industrialisation and modernisation.
The EVN has helped ensure energy security, andit should bring into play its achievements in the time ahead, the leader added.
On this occasion, he also talked to electricityworkers at Con Co Island, the Son La hydropower plant and the 500kV substationin Dong Anh district of Hanoi via video calls.
On Thanh Nien street, the leader met and talkedto residents and environmental workers of Hanoi.
Also on the Lunar New Year’s Eve, General Secretaryand President Trong and other officials offered incense at the 1,500-year-old TranQuoc Pagoda, one of the oldest pagodas in Hanoi, and Quan Thanh Temple to prayfor national peace and prosperity and people’s happiness.-VNA
