Legislative leaders of Vietnam, Armenia vow to boost cooperation

Hanoi (VNA) – Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong ThiPhong and her Armenian counterpart Vahe Enfiajyan agreed on November 5 that thetwo countries should bolster collaboration through party, state, parliamentary,business and people-to-people exchange channels.

The two reached the consensus during their talks inHanoi on the occasion of a working visit by the Vice President of the ArmenianNational Assembly and Chairman of the Armenia-Vietnam Parliamentary FriendshipGroup.

Phong expressed her delight over the thriving politicalrelations between the two countries, as seen in their close coordination atmultilateral forums.

She recalled that during an official visit to Vietnam in July this year, ArmenianPrime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Vietnam’s NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Nganhad shared the determination to develop the two countries’ relations in a moreeffective, practical and sustainable fashion in various sectors.

Phong took the occasion to thank the Armenian State and people for theirwhole-hearted support for Vietnam during the cause of national liberation inthe past and construction and development nowadays. She described it as avaluable asset and a solid foundation for the cooperative ties between the twocountries.

Regarding economy-trade cooperation, Phong said both sides need to takeadvantage of tariff incentives in the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam andthe Eurasian Economic Union so as to increase bilateral trade.

Vietnam has strengths to export garment and textiles, telephones, coffee, farmproduce and processed food, among others, to Armenia, and also wants to importmore from the South Caucasus country, she added.

She stressed that the Vietnamese National Assembly always supports, and createfavourable conditions for Armenian enterprises to branch out their business inVietnam, and hopes the Armenian side will enhance trade promotion activities toconnect businesses of both nations.

Vahe Enfiajyan, for his part, believed that his visit to Vietnam will makecontributions to enhancing the traditional friendship and all-round cooperationbetween the two legislative bodies, states and peoples.

He wished that both National Assemblies will enhance the exchange of visits toshare legislative experience and inform each other of their parliamentaryactivities in the coming time./.
