The Ngu Hanh Son (Marble Mountains) is a site consisting of five limestone mountains by a pristine beach in Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang City.
The site is the birthplace of many fascinating and sacred tales. The well-known Ngu Hanh Son is home to Linh Ung Pagoda, which is also one of the tourist attractions in Da Nang widely-known to many tourists.
The pagoda was built some 200 years ago and has its history closely attached to the ups and downs of the nation’s history. After various restorations and repairings, the pagoda still retains its ancient features and harmonises with natural landscape.
After some 123 stone steps, visitors will arrive in front of the Tam Quan (three-entrance) gate with patterns embossed in accordance with architectural style of the Nguyen Dynasty. In the middle of the pagoda’s yard stands a 10-metre-high statue of the Sakyamuni Buddha, facing East Sea (internationally known as South China Sea).
An architectural highlight of the pagoda is the Xa Loi Tower, 30m high, and built in 1997. The tower is home to nearly 200 statues of Buddha, Bodhisattva, Arhat. The 7th floor worships Buddhist relics and seven Buddhas in charge of consecration ceremonies. Currently, to better serve visitors, the authorities of Da Nang City have installed modern elevators.
The elevators help shorten the visitors’ access to the pagoda. The Linh Ung-Ngu Hanh Son Pagoda together with the Linh Ung-Son Tra Pagoda and Linh Ung-Ba Na Pagoda form a triangle of Linh Ung Pagoda which is famous across the country./.
