Vientiane (VNA) – A large number of literatureand art works featuring the solidarity between Vietnam and Laos were honouredat a ceremony in Vientiane on March 20.
In early 2017, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Armylaunched a campaign encouraging the creation of literature and art worksdepicting Vietnam-Laos fighting solidarity. The event aimed to celebrate theVietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2017.
The organising board received 479 entries in literature work, songs, propagandaposters, and news photos from 185 Lao authors. And, the Lao authors earned four A prizes, 8 B prizes, 12 C prizes and 16 consolationprizes.
Speaking at the ceremony, Senior LieutenantGeneral Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department ofPolitics of the Vietnam People’s Army described the time-honoured relations between Vietnam Laos as a special, reliable relationship and a valuable asset of bothnations.
Underthe leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People’sRevolutionary Party, the two countries’ people always stood shoulder by shoulder and supported each other in thenation-building and development process, he stressed.
Nghia urged the General Departments of Politics ofthe two countries’ armies to coordinate in building a plan for publishing the award-winningworks.
For his part, Major General Vantyhong Kongman, DeputyDirector of Laos’s General Department of Politics highlighted the significanceof the campaign, saying that it helped young people of the two countries to understandmore about the Vietnam-Laos special relationship in general and the fightingsolidarity between the two armies. -VNA

From “Thanh nien”, Vietnam’s first revolutionary newspaper founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc (later President Ho Chi Minh) on June 21, 1925, the revolutionary press has remained devoted to its sacred missions -accompanying the nation, serving the Fatherland, and working for the people.
