Localities asked to prevent Ebola from entering Vietnam

Hanoi (VNA) –The health sector has asked localities to strengthen supervision over Ebolavirus at border gates and in the community to promptly apply suitable andeffective preventive measures to avoid the intrusion of the virus to Vietnam.

The PreventiveMedicine Department under the Ministry of Health on May 21 warned the publicthat the Ebola virus recurred in the Democratic Republic of Congo since early2018 with complicated developments. The World Health Organisation’s EmergencyCommittee has held a meeting to deal with the disease.

The Ministry of Healthwill continue working closely with the WHO to supervise the disease’sdevelopments.

According to the WHO,possible preventive measures include strengthening the supervision system,setting up a management system, launching mobile testing, and calling for the engagementof localities’ leaders.

Ebola is a highlyinfectious disease that spreads through contact with even a small amount ofbodily fluid of an infected person. Its early flu-like symptoms are not alwayseasy to detect.

The current outbreak- the ninth to hit Congo since Ebola was identified in 1976 - involves the samestrain of the virus that struck three West African countries in 2013-15 andsparked an international panic. It went on to kill more than 11,300 people inthe deadliest ever Ebola epidemic.-VNA

Vietnam, France collaborate in vacc﷽ine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
