McDonald’s continues expansion in Vietnam

Fast-food giant McDonald’s has just opened its fourth Vietnamese outlet in Go Vap district, Ho Chi Minh City, on the occasion of one year of its presence in the country, the Dau Tu (Investment) newspaper reported.

The newspaper quoted Nguyen Bao Hoang, Director General of theconglomerate’s Vietnamese franchisee, as saying that it sold one millionburgers in 2014.

Managing director of McDonald’sVietnam Nguyen Huy Thinh said the company intends to operate additional5-6 restaurants this year, adding that it took two years of preparationsfor the first Mc Donald’s restaurant in the country. He said the firstMc Donald’s in Hanoi may come within the next two years or even sooner.

The executive underlined that the company’s focal task in the immediate future is to develop the domestic supply network.

McDonald’s Vietnam now sources its vegetable from the centralhighland town of Da Lat and buns from ABC Bakery. Recently it beganusing domestic eggs for the Dakao outlet on a trial basis.

McDonald's is the world's largest burger chain, with 34,500 outlets in more than 100 countries.-VNA
