The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang is intensifying efforts to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing as part of the country’s goal of having the European Commission’s “yellow card” warning lifted.
An art exchange programme between Vietnam and Cambodia was held on the evening of June 13 in the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long as part of the 2025 Cambodia Culture Week in Vietnam.

The red-crowned crane has long been a symbol of Tram Chim National Park and the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap. Listed as critically endangered on the world’s Red List, the species is in urgent need of protection. To help bring the cranes back, Dong Thap is actively implementing a conservation and development project for the 2022-2032 period.
Once completed, this will become the largest shopping mall in the Mekong Delta, with a scale nine times larger than the region’s current largest commercial centre.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called for “faster, bolder and greater” action in Mekong Delta transport infrastructure development, stating that each year must be better than the last, and each term must surpass the one before.
PM Pham Minh Chinh required that the construction progress and quality of projects must be ensured, with no cost overruns, no corruption or wastefulness, hygiene ensured, and the environment restored.
In recent years, the Mekong Delta has witnessed major investment in modern, synchronised transport infrastructure, playing a key role in boosting economic growth, improving livelihoods, and enhancing connectivity across the region.
The UK's University of Stirling has announced a 3.5 million GBP (4.55 million USD) initiative named AquaSoS to develop digital tools to support sustainable aquaculture in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam, according to the British Embassy in Vietnam.
