Ministry of Public Security fosters ties with relevant Indonesian agencies

Hanoi (VNA) – Politburo member and Minister of Public Security GeneralTo Lam hosted a reception in Hanoi on June 28 for new Indonesian Ambassador toVietnam Denny Abdi, during which he expressed his hope to boost cooperationwith Indonesian agencies.

Lam stated that in 2020, Vietnam closely cooperated with andreceived active support from ASEAN member states, including Indonesia, tofulfill its roles as the ASEAN Chair and a non-permanent member of the UnitedNations Security Council to promote ASEAN’s goals in a challenging context,especially amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

He emphasized the cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministryof Public Security and Indonesia’s relevant agencies has developed positively throughthe exchange of high-level delegations, the sharing of information onprevention and control of transnational crimes such as drug smuggling, humantrafficking, and high-tech crimes, and coordinating in ensuring security andsafety for the other country’s citizens. The Vietnamese ministry and theIndonesian National Police established a security dialogue at the deputyministerial level.

After the pandemic is completely put under control, theMinistry of Public Security wishes to cooperate more closely with relevantIndonesian agencies so as to further deepen the Vietnam-Indonesia StrategicPartnership, and contribute to ensuring national security in each country forpeace, stability and prosperity in the region and in the world, he stressed.

The minister also affirmed that his ministry is willing tocooperate with and create all favourable conditions for the new mbassador to fulfillhis assigned missions.

The Indonesian diplomat asserted to do his utmost tocontribute to consolidating the traditional and comprehensive collaborationbetween the two countries.

He also showed his hope for further cooperation between thetwo nations’ law enforcement agencies in the coming time./.
