– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in Rio de Janeiro at noon on July 5 (local time), as part of his working trip to Brazil to attend the expanded BRICS summit and bilateral activities.

– All efforts as well as results of Vietnam in the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), one of the world’s most important human rights treaties, will be reported by a Vietnamese delegation during a dialogue on its country report, held from July 7-8 in Geneva, Switzerland, within the framework of the 144th session of the Human Rights Committee (HRC).

– The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has selected a design by To Minh Trang from Hanoi as the official logo for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution's success (August 19, 1945–2025) and the National Day (September 2, 1945–2025).

– The Vietnamese economy achieved its strongest performance in over a decade, with gross domestic product (GDP) rising by 7.52% in the first half of the year, the highest since 2011, according to the Ministry of Finance’s National Statistics Office of Vietnam (NSO).

NSO Director Nguyen Thi Huong highlighted that this was a positive result, reflecting the whole political system’s determination, concerted efforts, and drastic actions in managing and implementing socio-economic development tasks amidst regional and global volatility. Read full story

– Vietnam’s total import-export turnover reached 432.03 billion USD in the first half of 2025, marking a 16.1% increase compared to the same period last year, the NSO reported on July 5.

The country's export earnings grew by 14.4%, while its import turnover rose by 17.9%, resulting in a trade surplus of 7.63 billion USD. Read full story

– Vietnam welcomed nearly 10.7 million international arrivals in the first half of 2025, marking an increase of nearly 21% compared to the same period last year, and up 26% compared to 2019 – the ‘golden era’ of Vietnamese tourism before COVID-19 pandemic struck.

The H1 figure stood at 49% of the full-year target of 22-23 million tourists, but it should be noted that the peak international tourism season in Vietnam lasts from October to March, according to the NSO. Read full story

– Vietnam’s consumer price index (CPI) increased by 3.31% in the second quarter of 2025 as compared with the same period last year, the NSO noted.

In the second quarter, among the 11 main commodity groups, prices rose in 10 groups while only postal and telecommunications services declined. Read full story

– Foreign investors registered a total of 21.5 billion USD in investments in Vietnam during the first half of 2025, up 32.6% year-on-year, the Ministry of Finance's Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) revealed in its latest report.

Of the total, newly registered capital accounted for nearly 9.3 billion USD across 1,988 new projects. Meanwhile, adjusted capital reached approximately 8.95 billion USD through 826 existing projects and investment via capital contributions and share purchases totalled nearly 3.3 billion USD.
