National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung lauded outgoing Lao Ambassador Somphone Sichaleune for his dedication to strengthening the Vietnam - Laos traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation, during a reception in Hanoi on September 23. He congratulated Sichaleune on his new position as deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, saying that he believes the ambassador will fulfill his new mission and further foster the bilateral ties.
The ambassador thanked the Vietnamese Government, National Assembly and people for their support during his tenure and vowed to do his best for the sake of the bilateral relationship. On parliamentary cooperation, both sides expressed satisfaction with the close liaison between the two legislatures, contributing to developing a law-governed State in each country.
The two sides agreed that in the foreseeable future, the two legislatures should continue their close coordination in external relations and the sharing of legislative and supervision experience, especially in overseeing the efficiency of joint projects. On the occasion, the host reiterated Vietnam’s stance on strengthening the Vietnam – Laos special friendship nurtured by generations of leaders and furthering ties across security, economics and external relations. The same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also received Ambassador Sichaleune.-VNA
