The official visit to Cuba by Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue was a new milestone in the two countries’ fraternal relations and solidarity and also a contributor to the reinforcement of the bilateral friendship, said former Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Fredesmán Turró González.

Havana (VNA) – The official visit to Cuba byVietnamese National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue was a new milestonein the two countries’ fraternal relations and solidarity and also a contributorto the reinforcement of the bilateral friendship, said former Cuban Ambassadorto Vietnam Fredesmán Turró González.
Talking to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA)'s residentcorrespondent in Havana after Chairman Hue’s visit, González, who is also ViceChairman of the Cuba - Vietnam Friendship Association, spoke highly of thetrip’s outcomes, noting that the Vietnamese delegation’s activities havecreated conditions for the two countries’ agencies, sectors, and localities toshare information and experience in not only parliamentary but also economicaffairs.
The former ambassador, who spent more than 20years studying and working in Vietnam, emphasised that the two countries boastlong-standing friendship, solidarity, cooperation, and mutual support in allpolitical and economic aspects. The highest-ranking delegations of the Cubanand Vietnamese Parties, Governments, NAs, and organisations have frequentlyexchanged information and experience, which matches the level of relations,mutual sentiments, and mutual admiration between the two peoples.
Stressing the special significance of ChairmanHue’s visit, he considered it as well as the demonstration of the Vietnamese Party,NA, and people’s solidarity during the trip as a great source of support forthe Cuban leaders and people in the process of national construction andsafeguarding.
He noted the visit took place at a time when thetwo countries are celebrating the 60th founding anniversary of the CubanCommittee for Solidarity with South Vietnam and 50 years since late CubanCommander-in-chief Fidel Castro visited Vietnam and the liberated zone in QuangTri. Fidel Castro was the first and only foreign head of state to do so duringwartime.
González also underscored the importance of theagreements signed during the freshly concluded visit, adding that the mostnoteworthy deals were the one on increasing information and experienceexchanges between the two parliaments and those on Vietnam’s engagement inhelping Cuba guarantee food security, boost goods production, and change theenergy structure./.
