Hanoi (VNA) - Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Nganattended a ceremony held at the NA House on August 19 to mark the 75th anniversaries of the Tan Trao National Congress (August 16), the AugustRevolution (August 19), and National Day (September 2).

Tan Trao,known as the cradle of Vietnam’s revolution, was once the home of President HoChi Minh and Party agencies in the period before the success of the AugustRevolution in the resistance war against French colonialists.

It wasthe venue for many historic events leading up to the victorious AugustRevolution, including the Congress of People’s Representatives - precursor ofthe National Assembly - chaired by President Ho Chi Minh on August 16, 1945 to determinethe destiny of the nation.

OnSeptember 2, 1945, at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, President Ho Chi Minh delivered theDeclaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

GeneralSecretary of the NA and head of the NA Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc emphasised thatthe NA, born during the revolutionary struggle, was not only an achievement butalso a requirement of the revolution.

Thelegislature is a symbol of national independence and unity as well as the willand energy of the Vietnamese nation, he said.

Participantsalso watched a documentary called “September 2, 1945” on the significance ofNational Day./.
