NA to conduct vote of confidence in 6th session

The 14th National Assembly (NA) will conduct a vote of confidence on those holding the positions it elected or approved, during the sixth session scheduled to open next week.

Hanoi (VNA) – The 14th NationalAssembly (NA) will conduct a vote of confidence on those holding the positionsit elected or approved, during the sixth session scheduled to open next week.

At a press conference in Hanoi on October 18, NASecretary-General and Chairman of the NA’s Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc announcedthat the session will open on October 22 and last for 24 days, excludingweekends, before concluding on November 21.

The vote of confidence will be made beforequestion-and-answer sessions to ensure equality amongst those being voted on,he noted.

During the sixth session, NA deputies will electa new President of the state, consider the dismissal of Truong Minh Tuan fromthe post of Minister of Information and Communications, and vote on theappointment of a new Minister of Information and Communications.

Regarding lawmaking activities, they willdiscuss the approval of nine draft laws, including those on anti-corruption,the people’s public security force, and amnesty.
 
NA deputies are expected to approve a draftresolution ratifying the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement forTrans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and relevant documents, Phuc said.

Additionally, they will look into the draftrevised laws on education, tax management, and public investment; the draftlaws on architecture, and the prevention and control of alcohol and beer’sharms; and the draft law revising and supplementing some articles of the law onexecution of criminal judgments.

The NA will also mull over reports onsocio-economic development and state budget, along with revisions to themedium-term public investment plan and the national financial plan for2016-2020.

He added that the performance of the ChiefJustice of the Supreme People’s Court and the Prosecutor General of the SupremePeople’s Procuracy, the Government’s capacity for combating crime andcorruption, as well as the settlement of citizens’ complaints and denunciationsare also among issues high on the agenda.

Fifteen plenary meetings of the session are setto be broadcast live on radio and television, NA Secretary-General Phuc said.–VNA
