National electoral council formation to be decided at 10th NA sitting

National Assembly (NA) deputies are expected to establish a national electoral council at the parliament’s 10th sitting, which is scheduled to convene on October 20.
At an international press conference on October 19, Chairman of the NA’s Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc said the deputies will also elect the council’s chairperson, vice chairpersons and members.
The NA General Secretary will be elected at this session and the date for the NA and People’s Council elections will be decided.
He added that during the 31 working days through November 28, the legislators will consider approving 18 laws and 16 resolutions and scrutinise eight draft laws, including those on judicial activities and human and citizen rights.
They are set to review the implementation of the 2015 socio-economic development plan and the State budget plan as well as discuss similar plans for next year.
Evaluations of national target programmes between 2011 and 2015 and proposals on national target programmes from 2016 to 2020 will also be made as socio-economic development, financial and public investment plans for the next five years come under examination.
Phuc noted that about 30 reports will be delivered at this 10th sitting, including a report on the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement negotiations, which will serve the consideration of law amendments to align existing regulations with global practices.
Two and a half days of question-and-answer sessions will be different from those at the NA’s previous sitting, the official stressed, adding that all Cabinet members must be present to reply to inquisitions on their performance and the implementation of NA resolutions.
Twelve working sessions focusing on matters of high public interest will be broadcast live via television and radio, Phuc said.-VNA
