Hanoi (VNA)– The Netherlands, one of the leading partners of Vietnam in the EU, is agateway for Vietnamese goods to enter the EU market, experts have said.

According to theVietnamese Office for Trade Affairs in the EU, a large volume of Vietnamese goodsexported to the Netherlands are re-exported to other European countries.Therefore, Vietnam is also considered the leading trade partner of theNetherlands in Asia.

The Vietnam-EU Free TradeAgreement (EVFTA) is expected to open up greater for businesses from bothcountries to foster their partnership.

According to the Ministryof Industry and Trade (MoIT), Vietnam and the Netherlands have shared closeties in various fields, especially industry, green and renewable energy,circular economy and emission reduction towards sustainable development.

Meanwhile, the Dutch Government and investors have shown interest in partneringwith Vietnam in trade, industry and energy.

Vietnam has been and willbe a good choice for Dutch investors, while the business communities of both sideshave sought business and investment opportunities in each other’s country, thusoptimising advantages brought about by the EVFTA.

Statistics from the MoITshowed that the Netherlands is the biggest export market of Vietnam in the EUand the largest European investors in Vietnam.

Last year, despiteCOVID-19 impacts, two-way trade still rose 1.5 percent year on year to over 7.7billion USD thanks to the EVFTA.

In the first months of2021, positive signs were still seen in two-way trade despite the record heightof transport fee.

According to the GeneralDepartment of Vietnam Customs, in the first six months of 2021, total tradebetween Vietnam and the Netherlands hit 4,2 billion USD, up 19.5 percent from the same period last year, accounting for 15 percent of total trade revenue of Vietnam with thewhole EU.

Economists attributed thepreferential tariff from the EVFTA to Vietnam’s exportsto the Netherlands. They affirmed that the prospect is high for the export ofconsumer goods to the Netherlands as Dutch consumers’ spending is rising./.
