New firms up 9 percent in first eight months

Some 52,000 enterprises were created in the first eight months of this year with total registered capital of nearly 253.7 trillion VND (12.08 billion USD), or a 9 percent rise year-on-year, according to statistics from the Business Registration Department.

In the secondquarter of the year alone, the number of newly-created enterprisessurpassed 23,200 - a record high for the past two years, soaring 20percent over the same period last year.

The soaring number ofnewly-established firms reflected the recovery of the economy, accordingto the department.

Enterprises resuming operation after temporarilyclosing also increased in this year’s second quarter month-on-month,from 8,300 in April to 8,800 in May and 9,300 in June.

To date, a totalof 10,631 enterprises resumed operation, statistics showed. Thenumber of enterprises which dissolved and stopped operation is on thedecline with 5,161 and 4,476 units in August, down 6.2 percent and 5.7percent over the previous month, respectively.

Current low interestrate was also among factors helping enterprises expand operation andgrasp business opportunities. Many economic experts pointed out thataccess to loans and how product are sold were the two most importantfactors for domestic enterprises.-VNA
