New rules regulate prize-winning electronic games for foreigners

The Government has issued Decree No. 121/2021/ND-CP on business in prize-winning electronic games for foreigners in Vietnam.

Hanoi (VNA) –The Government has issued Decree No. 121/2021/ND-CP on business inprize-winning electronic games for foreigners in Vietnam.

Accordingly, an enterprisedoing the business is allowed to organise prize-winning electronic games atonly one site licensed by authorised State agencies.

The players permitted atthose sites are foreigners and Vietnamese people who reside abroad, legallyenter Vietnam by using passports or international travel documents granted byforeign authorised agencies, and still have valid visas.

All of them must have fullcapacity for civil conduct in accordance with Vietnamese law and voluntarilycomply with the games’ rules and regulations in this decree.

To play the games, they mustbring along the papers proving that they belong to the permitted group; complywith the games’ rules and the regulations of the game organising enterprises;fulfil their tax obligations as stipulated by law; and seriously adhere torelevant legal regulations.

Besides, players are notallowed to use results of prize-winning games to directly make a bet with oneanother, or harm the security, order, and safety at gaming sites.

The decree is scheduled totake effect on February 12, 2022./.
