Hanoi (VNA) – ♌Vietnam had nonew COVID-19 infections to report on November 5 afternoon, said the NationalSteering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

The country’s tally remained at 1,207, ofwhich 691 were locally-transmitted cases. Vietnam has gone through 64 straight dayswithout COVID-19 infections in the community. As of November 5, a total of 1,069 COVID-19patients in Vietnam have recovered. There are now no patients in criticalconditions. The death toll related to the disease remained at 35. Among the patients undergoing treatment, 18tested negative for the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, seven twice and fivethrice. As many as 15,137 people who had closecontact with COVID-19 patients or came from pandemic-hit areas are now underquarantine nationwide, including 196 in hospitals, 13,959 in concentratedquarantine establishments and 982 others at home./.

🌃 Sharp tobacco tax hike urged to safeguard youths, community health

A 2023 report by the Vietnam Health Economics Association estimated that the total cost of tobacco-related healthcare and economic losses reached 108 trillion VND (4.14 billion USD) annually – equivalent to 1.14% of GDP and five times higher than the budget revenue generated by the tobacco industry.

♕ Vietnam, France collaborate in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
