The four northern provinces of Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Hai Duong, andQuang Ninh need to work together closely to tap into their tourismpotential, according to participants in a workshop in Bac Giang onOctober 4.
The event concluded that tourism in thefour localities, which are rich in natural and cultural resources, couldgenerate substantial revenue from cooperating and developing newtourism services.
Participants pointed out the laxcoordination between the provincial tourism sectors. In particular, ThaiNguyen, Bac Giang and Hai Duong were yet to make full use of theirproximity to Hanoi and Quang Ninh, two major tourism hubs in northernVietnam , thus limiting the number of international tourists to thearea.
Deputy General Director of the VietnamNational Administration of Tourism Ha Van Sieu said the localitiesneeded to base their tourism cooperation on the specific features ofeach province and the common regional identity to create appropriatetourism services that reflected the characteristics of both the regionand the individual provinces.
Additionally, theywere also asked to run joint promotional campaigns, train humanresources together, draft joint tourism development plans, and improveregional traffic and tourism infrastructure.
