Official stresses importance to increase effectiveness, pervasiveness of external information
Entering the ninth edition, the National External Information Service Awards have affirmed its prestige and quality, and attracted big attention from Vietnamese and foreigners who both engage in and do not engage in the external information service.

Hanoi (VNA) – Entering the ninth edition, the National ExternalInformation Service Awards have affirmed its prestige and quality, andattracted big attention from Vietnamese and foreigners who both engage in anddo not engage in the external information service.
The statement was made by Le Hai Binh, alternate member ofthe Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’sCommission for Information and Education, and Standing Vice Chairman of theSteering Committee for External Information Service, on the threshold of theawarding ceremony of the ninth edition to be held at the Hanoi Opera House onOctober 12 evening.
According to him, the external information service hasreceived increasing attention of all levels and sectors, while the nationalawards have been expanded to various categories, for not only outstanding pressand media works, but also ideas and activities that help spread the image ofVietnam in the international arena.
In addition, the awards have been organised more professionally,and broadcast live on a Vietnam Television (VTV) channel with the participationof senior Party and State leaders.

To ensure the prestige of the Awards, Binh proposedcontinuing to improve the effectiveness and pervasiveness of externalinformation and use them as criteria for scoring and award consideration.
There may be very good and profound articles, highlyappreciated by many experts, but if there is no way to help them reach a largenumber readers or spread to the international community, they cannot beconsidered perfect external information works, he stressed.
As many as 112 works, including 10 first, 21 second, 30third and 51 consolation prizes, were honoured at the awarding ceremony of theeighth National External Information Service Awards.
The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) won 20 prizes, including two first,six second, three third and nine consolation prizes./.
The ninth National External Information Service Awards was launched by the Steering Committee for External Information Service and the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education in collaboration with the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, Nhan Dan Newspaper, the Vietnam News Agency, the Vietnam Television, the Voice of Vietnam, the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, and the Vietnam Publishers’ Association.
The Steering Committee on External Information Service held a conference at the headquarters of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) in Hanoi on July 5 to review its first-half performance and lay out tasks for the remaining months of this year.
Units involved in external information work need to fully follow the policy of enhancing information for the foreign service, said the Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and head of its Commission for Information and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia.
The Steering Committee for External Information Service on October 11 organised a national conference on studying and implementing the Politburo’s Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW dated June 15, 2023, on continuing to improve the quality and efficiency of external information service in the new situation.
In the context where AI dominates and produces vast volumes of content, the only sustainable path forward for journalism is to focus on high-quality content and core values. Journalism must redefine its mission - not to report the fastest, but to provide the most profound and trustworthy value.

PM Chinh lauded the press’s historic role in the nation’s fight for independence and its ongoing process of national development, affirming that the Government always highly appreciates the close partnership and steadfast support of press agencies and journalists nationwide.
In recent decades, Vietnam’s mainstream media has become a reliable and persuasive channel for showcasing the nation’s development policies and achievements, especially in economic matters, according to a senior assistant editor at the Times of India.
A hub for sharing best practices, the event aims to forge solutions for financial sustainability, public media contracts, audience engagement, content innovation, and newsroom restructuring. It is also a moment for Vietnam’s media to accelerate its progress and figure out what the “revolutionary press” means in a new era.
From “Thanh nien”, Vietnam’s first revolutionary newspaper founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc (later President Ho Chi Minh) on June 21, 1925, the revolutionary press has remained devoted to its sacred missions -accompanying the nation, serving the Fatherland, and working for the people.
