Japan’s Osaka Prefecture is paying heed to advancing its engagement with Vietnam in trade, science and technology, and environmental treatment solutions, Yutaka Imai, chairman of the Osaka Prefectural Assembly, said while meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Nguyen Quoc Cuong on October 19.

He also shared a local parliamentarians’ alliance for friendship with Vietnam plan to visit Vietnam in mid-2016.

Meanwhile Osaka Governor Ichiro Matsui said in addition to continue increasing cooperation in economics, trade and investment, Osaka will boost exchange progammes and people-to-people exchanges.

An Osaka student group ​will travel to Ho Chi Minh City in January 2016 and the prefecture is organising to welcome a student group from Ho Chi Minh City, the governor said.

He said he hopes the exchange activities would ​promote mutual understandingand cement bonds between Vietnam and Japan.

During their separate meetings, the Osaka authorities expressed their belief in flourishing Vietnam-Japan cooperation in the future.

Ambassador Cuong affirmed his willingness to support bilateral affiliations in trade, investment and student exchanges.

Earlier, the diplomat held talks with leaders of the Japan-Viet🃏nam Friendship Association’s chapter in Kansai re🌄gion, where Osaka is located, who is organising a business trip to Hanoi, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City from October 20-26 to promote economic ties.-VNA
