Over 11 million USD donated to central region via Vietnam Fatherland Front

The Vietnam Fatherland Fronts at all levels have received a total of over 265 billion VND (11.4 million USD) over the past two weeks in support of people affected by the recent record flooding in the central region.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Fatherland Fronts at all levels havereceived a total of over 265 billion VND (11.4 million USD) over the past twoweeks in support of people affected by the recent record flooding in thecentral region.

On October 27, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front(VFF) Central Committee Tran Thanh Man received 10 billion VND from Labour Heroand President of the Vietnam Veterans’ Business Association (VVBA) Le Van Kiem.

Through the VFF Central Committee, Kiem also handed over 36saving books worth 1.8 billion VND in total to families of officers andsoldiers who died performing duty during the flooding.

On this occasion, the VFF also received 800 water purifiersworth 500 million VND from the Defence Ministry and 200 million VND from theCommunist Review.

Man affirmed that the VFF Central Committee will coordinatewith local authorities and VFF local committees to allocate the money andobjects to right addresses.

Floods and landslides in the central region claimed 130lives as of October 25 and 18 others are still missing.

The Prime Minister decided to provide 11,500 tonnes of riceand 500 billion VND for five central localities hit hard by the disasters./.
