Over 1,600 dead in traffic accidents in two months
There were 832 traffic accidents nationwide from January 15 to February 14, killing 539 people and injuring 565 others, reported the Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee.

From December 15, 2022 to February 14,2023, as many as 1,629 accidents nationwide left 1,047 dead and 1,070 wounded,representing annual respective decreases of 17.77%, 12.6% and 14.13%.
There were 1,036 dead and 1,067 injuredin 1,610 road accidents, down 17.86%, 12.5% and 14.02% year-on-year, respectively.
Meanwhile, 13 railway accidents killed seven people and injured three.

Traffic accidents in Vietnam have seen drops in all the three criteria of cases, fatalities and injuries since the launch of a campaign to ensure safety and and order for the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday and other major events of the country.
As many as 152 traffic accidents occurred in the country during the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday, from January 20 to January 26, a year-on-year decrease of 12 cases, according to the Ministry of Transport.
There were 797 traffic accidents nationwide from December 15, 2022 to January 14, 2023, killing 508 people and injuring 505 others, reported Chief of the Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee Tran Huu Minh on January 30.
The Ministry of Transport on launched the Traffic Safety Year 2023, which aims to decrease the annual number of accidents, deaths, and injuries by five to 10%.
