Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnamese community in Denmark recently gathered at the Vietnamese Embassy in Copenhagen for a meeting with newly appointed Ambassador Nguyen Le Thanh, affirming their enduring connection with the homeland.
Ambassador Thanh praised the overseas Vietnamese (OVs) as silent cultural ambassadors who have preserved and promoted Vietnamese heritage in Denmark while maintaining devotion to the homeland. She emphasised their substantial contributions to the Danish society, which have earned recognition and appreciation from both the Danish government and people.
The Vietnamese Embassy has been committed to supporting the community, fostering deeper connections between expatriates and the Fatherland while strengthening the robust friendship and cooperation between the two countries, she underscored.
The diplomat took the occasion to brief the OVs on the country’s development achievements over the recent past as well as the Party and State’s major policies, including the ongoing administrative restructuring aimed at building a streamlined and modern apparatus capable of seizing opportunities in a new era – that of the nation’s rise.
She emphasised Vietnam’s four strategic resolutions centred on science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, legal reform, international integration, and private sector growth, establishing a foundation for the country to realise its development vision by 2045.
Addressing a key concern for overseas Vietnamese, Ambassador Thanh reaffirmed that the Party and State are committed to creating favourable conditions for those wishing to regain Vietnamese citizenship. She underscored that the Vietnamese Party and State have attached much importance to the OV communities and made efforts to strengthen bonds as well as facilitate their participation in national building and development.
Additionally, she provided updates on positive developments in Vietnam-Denmark relations, highlighting important milestones leading up to the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026.

The two sides agreed to jointly organise training courses and research delegations, and invite Danish experts to the HCMA for exchanges and lectures, particularly for advanced training programmes for senior officials in project management, public administration and governance, as well as specialised courses on energy, e-government, and green transition.
As Vietnam is set to enter a new era of the nation’s rise, the country is undertaking institutional and political system reforms while restructuring state management at all levels. At the same time, it is fostering new growth drivers and inspiring a strong national spirit, self-reliance, confidence, resilience, a sense of pride and aspiration for national development, said Politburo member, Chairman of the Central Theory Council and President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) Nguyen Xuan Thang.
Amidst escalating global trade, Vietnam and Denmark should capitalise on all opportunities and potential to bolster collaboration in the areas where Denmark has strengths and Vietnam has priorities such as renewable energy, green energy, infrastructure, blue economy, and circular economy for mutual benefits, said Deputy PM Bui Thanh Son.
Vietnam always regards the RoK as an important and long-term strategic partner; and hopes that the two sides will work together to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a more substantive, effective, and comprehensive manner in the coming time.
Within the framework of the Vietnam-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, people-to-people exchanges and local cooperation have been priorities.
The merger of Nam Dinh, Ha Nam, and Ninh Binh aims to shape a modern, vibrant development space with Ninh Binh at its heart, transforming the region into a hub of smart and green industry and services by 2030, while preserving its unique identity as a national heritage centre.
While praising the efforts of ministries, sectors, and localities in tackling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeiting, and intellectual property violations, PM Chinh acknowledged that in some places and at certain times, there has been lax enforcement and unclear jurisdiction, leading to increasingly complex developments in these issues.
At the working session, General Secretary Lam presented the Party Committee of the VFF and central mass organisations with the Politburo’s Decision No. 304-QD/TW, which outlines the new structure, functions and tasks of the VFF Central Committee, marking a significant step in improving its organisational effectiveness.
Describing the exhibition as a large-scaled, content-rich, and unprecedented event with high requirements and limited preparation time, PM Pham Minh Chinh urged all ministries, sectors, and localities to participate with the highest sense of responsibility, ensuring the exhibition is inclusive, objective, truthful, feasible, and impactful.
Vietnam’s attendance reaffirms its consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification, and comprehensive, intensive, extensive and effective international integration.
Cheng stressed that this is third time PM Chinh has attended the meeting and he is among the few senior government officials participating in this year's event, which is considered as a rare and commendable gesture.
The fact that the Vietnamese PM has been invited to attend and speak at this important event for three consecutive years reflects the WEF as well as the international business community's recognition and high regard for Vietnam's position, role, and contributions to global and regional economic growth.
This new era marks a crucial phase in which the country must strive with determination to fulfil its strategic objectives, achieving breakthrough development at new levels of sophistication, quality, and global standing, laying the foundation for further growth. Era after era forms a continuous history of development, ascending steadily from one level to the next.
The resolution on such mechanisms aims to serve as a legal basis for opportunely dealing with difficulties and hindrances caused by legal regulations in important, priority, and urgent areas that require immediate settlement so as to unlock resources, facilitate economic development, and turn legislation into a competitive edge.
PM Pham Minh Chinh instructed chairpersons of the People’s Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to strictly follow the Ministry of Finance's guidelines on handling public finances and budgets, with a focus on preventing wastefulness, misconduct, or corruption.
Knapper reaffirmed the US's commitment to supporting a strong, independent, prosperous and resilient Vietnam, while respecting each other’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, independence and political systems.
Vietnam is deeply concerned about the escalating and complex conflict in the Middle East, which poses a serious threat to the lives and safety of civilians, as well as to regional and global peace and stability.
