Phu Tho develops infrastructure at industrial zones

Phu Tho (VNA) – The northern midland province ofPhu Tho has focused on developing infrastructure at industrial zones andclusters so as to attract more investments.

The locality is currently home to seven industrial zones andnearly 30 clusters with a total area of nearly 4,000ha, including Thuy Vanindustrial zone (323ha), Trung Ha and Tam Nong industrial zone (550ha), and PhuHa industrial zone (450ha).

Infrastructure of four industrial zones has been to date constructed,attracting 150 domestic and foreign investors. Nearly 100 FDI enterprises posta total industrial production value of 15 trillion VND (640.9 million USD) ayear, and contribute 600-1,000 billion VND a year to the State budget.

The formation and development of industrial zones andclusters has contributed importantly to the province’s economic structureshifting, speeding up industrial development, generating more jobs, increasingGDP growth rate, export turnover and budget collection, and fosteringsocio-economic development of the province.

Last year, total revenue of enterprises at industrial zonesand clusters surpassed 22 trillion VND (940 million USD), and their exportvalue hitting nearly 800 million USD. They also contributed more than 1.2trillion VND (51.2 million USD) to the State budget.

In the year, the province has attracted 29 domestic andforeign projects worth 4 trillion VND (170.8 million USD) and 69 million USD,which create jobs for over 33,000 labourers with an average income of 6 millionVND per person per month.

In the first seven months of this year, 14 projects were putinto operation. They are expected to add 1.13 trillion VND (48.2 million USD)to the total revenue of enterprises at industrial zones and clusters,contribute nearly 5 billion VND (213,500 USD) to the State budget, and offerjobs to 3,700 labourers.-VNA
