Phu Tho (VNA) - The anniversa♔ry of the Hung Kings and the 2016 Hung Kings Temple Festival will take place from April 12-16 (the sixth to 10th day of the third lunar month) in the northern mountainous province of Phu Tho, said Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ha Ke San.
The commemoration ceremony on April 16 will be broadcast live on the provincial television channel.
A string of new activities will be held during the five-day festival, including boat races in the Van Lang park lake and the Lo River in Viet Tri city.
Director of the Hung Kings Temple Relic Site Luu Quang Huy said upgrades have been made on numerous works in the site over the past time.
The management board has taken measures to ensure security and social order while communication work has been enhanced to raise awareness of environmental protection and food safety among visitors, local residents and involved staff.

Since February 7 (the 29th day of the last lunar month last year), the Hung Kings Temple Relic Site received more than 1.2 million tourists, said Huy.
According to legend, the Vietnamese nation, named Van Lang, was founded by Hung Kings about 40 centuries ago. This dynasty lasted for 18 generations and led Vietnam towards development.
To honour the country’s founding fathers, the holy Hung Kings site was built in 250BC in Phu Tho and has since become one of the most popular sites in the country. The annual Hung Kings anniversary is held on the 10th day of the third lunar month.
The dynasty made many outstanding achievements including the founding of old Vietnam as an independent nation and the establishment of several administrative, social and economic institutions, which made up the original Vietnamese nation.-VNA
