
Phu Yen(VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended an investment promotionconference of Phu Yen in Tuy Hoa city on January 19, where he called oninvestors to help transform potential and advantages of the south centralprovince into concrete values.
Having applauded Phu Yen’s efforts in economicdevelopment, infrastructure building and investment climate improvement, PMPhuc expressed his hope that with these initial foundations and local people’sindustriousness, the province will develop rapidly and sustainably and becomeone of the leading localities in the central and Central Highlands regions.
To reach the target, he asked Phu Yen tostrongly reform its mindset and be creative to have more synchronous andeffective solutions, adding that the entire political system needs to joinhands in addressing difficulties and challenges and seizing opportunities.
The province has to improve its mechanisms andpolicies and ensure their openness, stability, and transparency in addition to promotingstart-ups, especially of young people in rural areas, while paying attention todeveloping local businesses and attracting more foreign investments, the PMnoted.
It is necessary to apply digital technology inadministrative management and building e-government to eradicate red tape, hesaid, adding that Phu Yen also needs to improve its Provincial CompetitivenessIndex and Provincial Governance and Public Administration Index so as to becomea capable and trustworthy partner of investors.
PM Phuc suggested the province reinforcecooperation with neighbouring provinces, particularly with Binh Dinh, KhanhHoa, Lam Dong and Dak Lak which can supplement Phu Yen’s strengths with theiradvantages.
It should call for investments from majorbusinesses into potential fields, attract investments in clean and hi-techindustries, and determinedly revoke natural resources from badly-performinginvestors to give them to capable firms, he said.
The Government leader told the provincialauthorities to continue working to turn tourism into a true momentum for theprovince’s development, saying they need to attract big and prestigiousinvestors while diversifying and improving tourism services and enhancingconnectivity with Vietnamese and foreign localities.
He also asked Phu Yen to develop fisheries intoa major economic sector, support local fishermen, and prevent illegal fishing.
With a strategic geographical location, Phu Yenhas a road system that is part of the national North-South route as well asrailway, aviation, and sea routes. It also boasts diverse natural resources todevelop the sea-based economy, tourism, hi-tech agriculture, mining, andrenewable energy.
Over the last years, the province has offered anumber of favourable conditions for investors. As a result, from 2011 to 2017,it attracted 284 investment projects, including 19 FDI projects, with a totalregistered capital of over 4.74 billion USD and 28.67 trillion VND (1.26 billionUSD).
At the conference, the provincial People’sCommittee presented certificates of investment registration to 17 projectsworth nearly 12.4 trillion VND (546.8 million USD).
Also on January 19, PM Phuc attended a ceremonyto start construction of Da Rang Bridge in Tuy Hoa city.-VNA
