Hanoi (VNA) – The PrimeMinister’s certificate of merit will be posthumously awarded to Vietnam NewsAgency (VNA)’s reporter Dinh Huu Du, who laid down his life while reporting therecent floods in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai.

The decision to this effect was signed byDeputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh on October 20.

Du, who was standing on Nghia Lo town’s NgoiThia bridge to record images of the floods, was swept away when the bridgecollapsed due to the strong flood on October 11.

He was born in 1988 in Ninh Binh city, theprovince of the same name. He started working as a VNA correspondent in Yen Baiprovince in October 2016.

Previously, he was one of the reporters honouredby the provincial People’s Committee for outstanding achievements in reportingfloods and heavy rains in Mu Cang Chai district in August.-VNA
