Hanoi(VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will attend and co-chair the 40th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee in Laos on February4-5, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He will be accompaniedby a high-ranking Government delegation, as guests of Lao Prime MinisterThongloun Sisoulith, added the ministry.

Vietnam and Laoshave enjoyed close-knit traditional friendship, special solidarity andcomprehensive cooperation.

Trade between Laos and Vietnam topped 900 million USD in 2017, a year-on-yearincrease of over 10 percent. The two countries have set a target of 4 billionUSD by 2020.

Vietnamese companieshave invested 5 billion USD in 276 projects in Laos, mainly in energy,services, infrastructure, mining, agriculture and forestry.-VNA
