PM urges strong, substantive improvement of business climate

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hasrequested all-level authorities and sectors seriously implement his freshly-issuedDirective 09 on solutions to remove obstacles to production and businessactivities so as to achieve this year’s growth target.
He made the order while concluding theGovernment’s monthly meeting on April 2.
The Cabinet leader asked the Ministry ofPlanning and Investment to prepare detailed growth scenarios in order to make proactivemanagement moves.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Industry and Trade isrequired to keep a close watch on impacts of international issues, includingtrade tensions, on the domestic economy and propose solutions to capitalise onopportunities created by free trade agreements as well as the domestic marketwith nearly 100 million people, he noted.
At this meeting, PM Phuc pointed out six growthdrivers this year, including removing difficulties and facilitating agro-forestry-fisheryproduction and export; making good use of chances created by the Comprehensiveand Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), diversifyingmarkets, promoting export and reducing trade deficit; and promotingprocessing-manufacturing and closely monitoring businesses’ activities and bigprojects so as to tackle hindrances to them in a more timely manner.
Another measure to fuel growth is fostering thedevelopment of services, especially wholesale, retail, logistics, tourism, IT,financial and banking services. Additionally, it is necessary to speed up thedisbursement of public investment capital.
The last and also most important driving forceis continuing to strongly and substantively improving the investment andbusiness climate, particularly removing institutional obstacles that arehampering development, he added.
The PM also asked ministries, sectors andlocalities to accelerate the building of an e-government and the creation of alegal corridor helping businesses to improve the application of the FourthIndustrial Revolution’s achievements, especially crypto assets and currencieswhich are very new issues in Vietnam.-VNA
