Rome (VNA) – Pope Francis sent a message ofcondolences to Vietnam on the passing of President Tra💞n Dai Quang, reported theVatican Radio on September 22.
In themessage sent to Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, the Pope extended hisprofound condolences and wished for peace and blessings to the Vietnamesepeople, especially the family of the late President. In2016, President Quang paid a call to Pope Francis and met Prime Minister ofVatican, Cardinal Pietro Parolin. Thegovernment and political parties of Brazil also cabled condolences to the Vietnamesegovernment and people. TheBrazilian Foreign Ministry issued a press release saying that as a State leadersince 2016, President Tran Dai Quang walked on a meaningful path towards thedevelopment of Vietnam - an important partner of Brazil in Southeast Asia, aswell as protection of multilateralism, settlement of disputes by peaceful meansand facilitation of dialogues among nations. Inanother condolence message, President of the Communist Part of Brazil LucianaSantos lauded President Quang for leading the country to adapt to challenges ofthe era and by no means step back to meet aspirations of the founders ofcontemporary Vietnam.
