President inspects APEC Summit preparations in Da Nang

Da Nang (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quang on April18 made an inspection tour of several facilities serving the APEC High-levelWeek 2017 in the central city of Da Nang this November.

He looked at the reception hall for head delegates, the mainconference hall, the venue for the APEC Business Advisory Council dialogue andthe CEO Summit, the new terminal at Da Nang International Airport and theInternational Press Centre.

The President pressed the button to kick start a countdownclock to welcome the APEC High-level Week in the city.

At a working session the same day with representatives ofthe National Committee for APEC 2017, the President noted that hosting the APECYear 2017 is a focus of the country’s external affairs, demonstrating the Partyand State’s policy of active international integration.

It will be an opportunity for Vietnam to promote multilateraldiplomacy and deepen bilateral relations with its leading partners in theregion and the world, while giving Vietnamese localities and businesses achance to introduce their potential and seek partners, he stated.
The leader spoke highly of efforts made by the NationalCommittee for APEC 2017,  the NationalSecretariat on APEC 2017, and Da Nang municipal authorities to prepare for theevent, while asking for more efforts to speed up construction to early finishinfrastructure projects, especially Da Nang airport.

He requested the Ministries of Defence and Public Securityto coordinate and map out specific plans to ensure security and order forevents during the High-level Week.

The President also stressed the necessity to boostcommunications to help the public gain insights into the meaning and importanceof the APEC Year 2017 so that they can contribute to promoting the image ofVietnam to international friends.-VNA
