President Tran Dai Quang receives Lao Deputy Minister of Public Security

President Tran Dai Quang hosted a reception in Hanoi on May 15 for Lao Deputy Minister of Public Security Kongthong Phongvichit, who is leading a Lao delegation to attend the ninth security cooperation conference in 2018 between the Public Security Ministries of Vietnam and Laos.

Hanoi (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quang hosted a reception inHanoi on May 15 for Lao Deputy Minister of Public Security KongthongPhongvichit, who is leading a Lao delegation to attend the ninth securitycooperation conference in 2018 between the Public Security Ministries ofVietnam and Laos.

The Vietnamese State leader lauded Laos’ achievements in all fields, includingits stable political situation, economic development, improved livingconditions and enhanced position in the world arena.

He praised the Public Security Ministries of Vietnam and Laos formaintaining high-level security cooperation conferences, along with meetings,thematic conferences and personnel training affiliation.

Highlighting the traditional solidarity of Vietnam and Laos, PresidentTran Dai Quang lauded the precious support of Laos during the past struggle forindependence and current national construction and defence of Vietnam.

He declared that the Party, State and People’s Public Security Force ofVietnam see the partnership with Laos as among key factors to maintain theleadership of the Party and State of Vietnam and Laos to successfully fulfiltargets in reform, ensuring a peaceful and wealthy life of both Vietnamese andLao people.

Both President Tran Dai Quang and Kongthong Phongvichit agreed that thepublic security forces of the two countries should improve their coordinationin implementing policies of the two Parties and States in safeguarding nationalsecurity and social order and safety in each country.

The two forces should promote their cooperation to stay active infoiling all schemes to harm the national security of each country and separatethe solidarity of the two nations.

They concurred that the forces should timely deal with arising problemsrelated to security and order of each country, especially those in freemigration and undocumented marriage along shared border, as well as drugtrafficking across the border.

President Tran Dai Quang asked the two forces to enhance coordination inpersonnel training, technology, anti-terrorism and cyber crimes, whilesupporting each other at regional and international forums on criminalprevention and control, especially fighting hi-tech, environmental crimes andother non-traditional crimes.

For his part, Kongthong Phongvichit briefed his host on the partnershipbetween public security forces of both sides, including major plans in theircooperation for the future.

He affirmed that the Laos’ Public Security Ministry treasures theassistance of Vietnam’s Public Security Ministry, especially support inmaterial and technical equipment.

He also pledged to strengthen ties with the Vietnamese side, thus contributingto preserving the Laos-Vietnam special relations.-VNA
