President Xi Jinping’s visit marks milestone in VN-China relations

Hanoi (VNA) - The two-day State visit to Vieಌtnam by Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping marks a milestone in the relations between the two countries, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Hong Xiaoyong told Beijing Radio on the threshold of the visit, which bꦜegins on November 5.
The ambassador said both countries attach great importance to this visit which aims to increase mutual trust and win-win cooperation as well as settle existing issues between the two countries in a satisfactory manner to make pragmatic contributions to the stable and healthy development of China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
He noted that during the visit to Vietnam by Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli last July, leaders of the two countries reached important consensus on better tapping their potential and expanding cooperation based on their common perception.
According to Hong, several agreements to be signed during President Xin Jinping’s visit will lay a firm foundation for the bilateral exchanges in the coming time.
The Chinese People’s Daily – the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of China on November 3 carried an article by Ambassador Hong Xiaoyong highlighting trust building exchange and win-win cooperation as the shared viewpoint of the two countries.
The article said few countries share that many similarities with China as Vietnam, and unceasingly promoting exchanges to build mutual trust and enhance win-win cooperation will benefit both peoples.
The ambassador noted in the article that China has been the largest trade partner of Vietnam for 11 consecutive years with over 1,000 Chinese businesses running investment in Vietnam. In the first nine months of this year, nearly 1.3 million Chinese tourists came to Vietnam, making up nearly one quarter of the total international tourists to the Southeast Asian country.
According to the Chinese Ambassador, there remain some disagreements and disputes between the two countries; however, both are aware that the mutual interests are bigger than any disputes and will spare no efforts to maintain the overall relations.-VNA
