Prime Minister asks to increase corruption prevention

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc signed a dispatch No.724/CD-TTgdated June 17 on strengthening measures to prevent negative and corruptionbehaviours in public service.

Corruption cases have recently been found in the areas of customs, tax, andmarket management and even in inspection teams in some localities, ministriesand sectors, he said.

Heasked ministers, heads of ministry-level and government agencies, chairmen ofthe people’s committees of centrally-run cities and provinces to seriouslyfollow the Party’s resolutions and directives on anti-corruption, directions ofthe Party General Secretary and head of the Central Steering Committee onCorruption Prevention and Control, the government, the Prime Minister on theeffort.

Headsof the ministries, agencies and localities must hold responsibility to theParty and State for any negative or corruption cases in their units, considerthe fight against corruption a regular, continuous, long-term and especiallyimportant political task.

Law enforcement officials were required to seriously follow code of conduct andprofessional working process, he said, pointing to the need to issue specificand transparent regulations for officers in charge of inspection, audit,investigation, execution of judges, customs, taxation and market management,thus preventing the abuse of position to reap personal gains.

Moderntechnology, recorders, and camera systems should be widely adopted in meetingsbetween on-duty officials and people and businesses while the implementation ofonline public services at level 3 and 4 should be enhanced.

Hotlinesshould be announced on the mass media to acquire feedback from businesses andpeople.

Headsof the ministries, agencies and localities must intensify leadership andinstruction, especially to their law enforcement units, resolutely fire officialsand officers showing moral degradation and committing legal violations, choosequalified personnel with integrity to undertake sensitive positions, includingheads of inspection teams or auditors.

Supervisoryrole of public-elected agencies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, press agenciesand people in the effort must be upheld.

Annualreports on the effort must be sent to the Government Inspectorate forsubmission to the PM.

The GovernmentInspectorate must oversee the implementation of the dispatch and promptlyreport to the PM in case of any contingency.

Earlier on the day, the Central Steering Committee onCorruption Prevention and Control has sent a dispatch to Party units andauthorities of centrally-run cities and provinces requesting strictly dealingwith negative and corruption behaviours in anti-corruption units.-VNA
