Tokyo (VNA) – PrimeMinister Pham Minh Chinh met with former Japanese PM Suga Yoshihide andChairman of the Japan - Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance Nikai Toshihiroin Tokyo on November 23.

The meeting is part of PMChinh’s first official visit to the Northeast Asian country from November 22 to25.

Describing Japan as astrategic partner of leading importance to Vietnam, he noted with satisfactionthat the two countries’ extensive strategic partnership has been growingstrongly in all fields with high political trust.

He thanked Suga Yoshihide andNikai Toshihiro, who is also former Secretary-General of the Liberal DemocraticParty (LDP) of Japan, for actively promoting the Japanese Government’semergency vaccine assistance for Vietnam in the face of the complex COVID-19situation.

PM Chinh highlyvalued the active and effective contributions by Suga, Nikai, and members ofthe Parliamentary Friendship Alliance to the fruitful development of the extensivestrategic partnership in all areas, including economy, trade, investment, andpeople-to-people exchange.

PM Chinh called on them tokeep helping strengthen the ties between the two countries’ parliaments,parliamentarians, and young leaders, and bring into play the role ofparliamentary friendship groups.

For his part, Nikai affirmedthat the Japan - Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance will make morecontributions to bilateral relations by stepping up activities for enhancingfriendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples, including theyoung, thereby creating new opportunities for their multifaceted cooperation.

On this occasion, PM Chinhattended an event marking the export of the Unshu mandarin, a specialty fruitof Japan, to Vietnam./.
