Quang Binh welcomes first tourists from outside after pandemic-caused hiatus
The central province of Quang Binh on October 15 welcomed the first tourists from another locality after a long hiatus triggered by the latest COVID-19 wave.

Quang Binh (VNA)– The central province of Quang Binh on October 15 welcomed the first touristsfrom another locality after a long hiatus triggered by the latest COVID-19 wave.
The six tourists, arriving by air from Ho Chi Minh City, are visiting Quang Binh in a package tourpermitted by the provincial People’s Committee. They will experience servicesat Chay Lap Farmstay, explore the Tu Lan cave system, and wrap up their trip onOctober 17.
This is one of the package tours offered by the Oxalis Adventure company andattracting much interest from travellers from HCM City, Hanoi, and many otherlocalities.
Nguyen Ngoc Quy, Director of the provincial Tourism Department,said Quang Binh has been ready to welcome travellers back, describing thewelcoming of this tourist group as an important event marking the resumption andgradual recovery of the local tourism industry.
The tourist receptionprocess complied with regulations of the Health Ministry and the Government. Accordingly,visitors must have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and undergone rapidtesting before their flight’s departure and after arrival, the official added.
Quang Binh is now openedto travellers from COVID-19-free zones (green zones) and those applying thePrime Minister’s Directive 15/CT-TTg on pandemic prevention and control (yellowzones). Those from “yellow zones” can only take part in “sandbox” package toursor certain services on small scale to ensure safety.
Travel companies andthose operating tourist attractions can serve a maximum of 20 visitors pergroup, and groups must keep distance from one another during theirstay in the province.
The tours offered totravellers must also be licensed by the provincial People’s Committee.
Quang Binh is dubbed the "Kingdom of caves" withhundreds of caves of various sizes as well as incredible mountain scenery andsprawling beaches.
It is home to Son Doong Cave, accredited as theworld’s largest and most beautiful natural cave by the World Records Union andthe World Records Association, as well as the UNESCO-recognised world heritagesite Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park./.
Authorities in Quang Binh decided entry tickets to many of its famous caves including the world's largest Son Doong would be cut by half from next year to stimulate tourism.
Entries are being invited for a photography contest on Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park which was held to mark its 20th founding anniversary (2001 – 2021).
